Direct answer

What is Technical datasheet translation?

Technical datasheet translation covers product descriptions, specification tables, performance information, material data, notes and application guidance. WLS preserves supplied numerical values and identifiers while translating the text around them; product claims and compliance statements remain subject to the document owner’s approval.

Documents in scope

What we translate

Send the complete document set and explain how the files relate to one another. We confirm the scope, language team and required output after reviewing the material.

Product data sheets

Product identity, description, applications, benefits and technical characteristics.

Specification sheets

Requirements, ranges, tolerances, materials and interface details.

Performance tables

Operating ranges, capacities, ratings and test-condition labels.

Component data

Part descriptions, compatibility information and ordering references.

Material and finish information

Material grades, coatings, environmental conditions and handling notes.

Technical catalogues

Groups of related products that need consistent terminology and table structures.

Accuracy controls

What must stay consistent

  • Keep values, ranges, units, symbols, superscripts and footnotes tied to the correct labels.
  • Preserve model numbers, product codes, standards references and trademarks as instructed.
  • Check table columns, decimal separators and line breaks after translation and typesetting.
  • Use one controlled term for each feature, material and performance characteristic across the product range.
  • Flag source inconsistencies or unsupported claims for client review rather than correcting them silently.

Industries and teams

Who uses this service?

  • Industrial components and machinery
  • Automotive products and supplier systems
  • Electrical and electronic equipment
  • Construction materials and engineered products
  • Chemicals, coatings and laboratory products

Procurement teams, technical writers, engineers, quality managers and export teams can nominate a reviewer and provide approved terminology for the project.

Files and layout

How we handle the source files

Datasheets are commonly supplied as Word, Excel, PDF, InDesign or catalogue artwork. Editable tables and source layouts reduce extraction risk. We can quote translation alone or translation with multilingual typesetting and final-format checks.

Quote checklist

Send these details for an accurate quotation

  1. Final source datasheet and product/version identifier
  2. Target languages and sales or technical markets
  3. Editable tables, artwork and linked images
  4. Approved product terminology and related catalogue files
  5. Required output format, review contact and launch deadline

A sample file helps us assess terminology, extraction, layout and review effort. Do not send passwords or confidential access credentials through the form.

Languages

Indian vernacular and major foreign languages

WLS handles technical documents across Indian languages such as Hindi, Marathi, Gujarati, Bengali, Kannada, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Punjabi and Urdu, as well as major foreign languages including German, French, Spanish, Arabic, Japanese and Chinese. Availability is confirmed for the technical domain, language direction, volume and deadline.

Questions about Technical datasheet translation

How is a technical datasheet different from an SDS?

A technical datasheet describes product characteristics and use; an SDS communicates safety information in a regulated structure. They should have separate scopes and pages.

Will numerical values be converted?

Values and units are normally preserved. Any authorised conversion must be expressly included and verified by the document owner.

Can you preserve complex specification tables?

Yes, subject to the source format and layout scope. Editable tables are preferable to scanned PDFs.

Can several product datasheets use consistent terminology?

Yes. Send the family together with the approved product glossary and naming rules.

Do you translate product claims?

We translate approved source claims accurately. The document owner remains responsible for substantiating and approving them for the target market.
